The Best Christmas

Over the past few months, mummy has been quite upset and not in the mood to post because of an incident. She had been planning a post called "The Elitist Dog Owner" in order to vent her frustration, but somehow wasn't sure if she has calmed down enough to post it in an objective manner.

Hormone-free chicken wings from Meat the Butcher

Last weekend, mummy bought some hormone-free chicken wings from Meat the Butcher and decided to make a video of how she cuts them, and how Zeus and Honey eats them. This is because her friend claims that her dog makes a big mess when it comes to eating chicken wings, and puts it on the floor and gets blood all over his chest.

Certifect, Risks, and Saving Money on Dosages

Recently, we decided to try applying a new flea and tick control product on Zeus and Honey. It's called Certifect. It's more powerful than Frontline because it contains an added ingredient - amitraz. However reviewers warn that it is a dangerous product and causes adverse reactions and even death in dogs.

Zeus and Honey are tick infested again :(

We shaved them and found more ticks over the weekend. We think eggs on their bodies have hatched. Some of the ticks are so small, they can't really be pulled off with fingers.

We are the Furballs (WTF)

Last Saturday we brought Zeus and Honey to a new dog cafe known as WTF, or We are the Furballs. Misleading name aye?

It's a Taiwanese style pet cafe whereby you pay to enter an upper storey which houses 5 to 6 small dogs. If you are bringing your pets, please note that only small dogs are allowed. We had a hard time trying to get Zeus in because he's medium-sized.

For $6.50 (weekdays)/ $7.50 weekends per person, you'll also get a free basic bubble tea (worth $2.50) of your choice. You'll need to top up if you want a more elaborate flavour. No food is allowed.

However, if you want food, you are free to dine downstairs, where a very sparse offering of only 3 items - spicy popcorn chicken, fries and tea egg are offered. The cafe has a collaboration with the Loft, two doors away, where you can order their western food and have them served at WTF.

We had a whole family with us - 6 of us - checking out this place on a weekend. So it's about $45 for all of us just to go upstairs with one measly drink.

Separation and reunion

It's been two weeks since we came back from our 6 night vacation in Prague, Czech Republic. Before that we were considering how should we board Zeus and Honey. Daddy thinks the two of them should not be separated, however mummy thinks that grandma probably won't be able to handle two naughty dogs. Grandma doesn't walk too well because of a leg problem, and she can't chase the dogs if either of them ran away during walks.

Gate guardians

Whenever one of us steps outside the house for a moment, these two become gate guardians and emo dogs.

Weekend update

Here's what we did over the weekend. We sent Zeus and Honey for grooming at Thor's place. We've always visited Thor at night, so now that we visited him in the day, here is a clearer view of what his place really looks like. It is BIG huh.
 
Zeus doesn't really get along with Thor though. You can see his grouchy face in the video (below).

An afternoon at Pasir Ris Park!

We've been going to Pasir Ris Park quite a bit lately. Purely because it's quieter and there's a new cafe called 5 Drunken Rabbits there that's dog friendly. Zeus and Honey do have lots of fun there, and there's plenty to do!

Apologies if this seems brief, but mummy and daddy have been busy with volunteer work. Now that things have slowed a little, here are some updates.

Zeus and Honey are getting along very well. Honey has a new obsession - shadows. She keeps chasing at shadows, watching shadows on the wall/floor, and pouncing and barking at them. We don't really know what to do with her and think she's gone mad.

 Before we adopted Zeus, or Honey, we were looking through the classifieds online - PetsChannel, Locanto, and the works. There were some pets for adoption, and some pets for sale. We considered both of them and even wanted to buy a puppy from a dubious breeder who will only promise to deliver the puppy to you upon a certain price.

Visit to Namly Animal clinic / Help for Rei

Brought Zeus and Honey to the vet on Tuesday. Namly Animal Clinic was fully booked last week, so they could only arrange a slot for this week. Mummy was attended to by a Dr Yong, who said Honey and Zeus are very good natured dogs.
