Zeus in training: week 2

It's the second week of training as we are pleased to announce that Zeus is topping the class :) However, he is not entirely obedient and we are instructed to be strict with him, that means no more loose leash during walks (to train him to walk to heel) and making him wait longer for his food. Zeus also has a new classmate, a Chow Chow, and Zeus is now in the category of 'big dogs' in his class. We find that quite amusing.

Wet Dog Day

Not a very good picture as Zeus is all fidgety and refuses to stay still, and keeps trying to lick the camera. We bathed him quite a few times this week, as the weather is wet and Zeus has a tendency to get himself dirty by rolling about in the grass.

Feeding, training and adventure of the day

We have been teaching Zeus how to wait for his food. This method is supposed to cultivate an awareness of who's boss, and who's providing the food. We were also told to train Zeus to sit and wait for other things, such as going out, exiting doors and etc. He tends to get overly excited at these moments and it will be good for his patience. So far he's doing quite well with the food training :)

Defiant Zeus

Zeus has been especially defiant today, not only disobeying orders (so much for thinking of expanding his space), but he also seemed very grumpy and even peed in the living room! Now this comes as a surprise, as he has been quite good for the past few days.

Zeus goes to school

It's back to Merry Men again on a Friday night. Over here we met Jasmine, who works part time at the restaurant/bar and is a certified dog groomer with her own business Salon Le Pooch. As Zeus's hair is getting messy, we're thinking of sending him for grooming soon.

The animals have been naughty and must be Punished!

On Weds night, we found Boss in this position after when we came back from dinner.

Apparently he managed to get on top of his seagrass house but he couldn't come down. Or rather he didn't dare to come down, so he was trapped in that position for quite some time. Poor thing.

New configuration: Zeus and Boss

Forgot to mention that we decided to give Zeus a little bit more space because he managed to have good toilet habits within the toilet. Boss is now in Zeus's cage because it is more convenient. Even though the cage is smaller, Boss will get free run of the kitchen at night.

Zeus and Toby & K9 Kulture

It was raining the whole day today and we were quite excited about Zeus starting school today, but alas, it was postponed due to the rain. Oh well, nevermind. We brought Zeus to meet Toby anyway, that is mummy's other dog, a great big nine-year-old golden retriever. This is Zeus's third time meeting Toby.

Zeus has diarrhea

Daddy is at home today because he is sick. Zeus also has diarrhea. His poo has been soft these few days, and this morning, he pooped all around his urine pad and it's a soft gooey consistency. Yucky. We think it's maybe his food (Solid Gold Flocken Puppy) or maybe it's all that rubbish he is eating (Boss's food, stools, hay, dirt, whatever rubbish he picks up from his walks). He seems to really like licking the floor when he is out on walks and he has to be jerked everytime he sniffs the floor (we're not taking chances) although it's hard to monitor him 100%. He could be sneakily eating debris in the split second we're not looking.

Zeus is flat out tired from chasing the rabbit

It's a pity you couldn't see him licking Boss. Boss is still terrified of him though.
Zeus has runny poo and he's still eating it. We're wondering if changing his diet will make his poo consistency better.

Zeus living in the bathroom; Boss crosses Zeus's path

This is Zeus's toilet configuration. It's much bigger than his playpen and his cage actually. It is what the dog trainer suggested. Basically the theory is that if Zeus is a clean dog, he will keep his toilet area and play area separate. His play area much always be in front and his toilet area at the back. If you look to the right, you can see a little of his urine pad sticking out.

Zeus goes for a walk, gets a jab, and signs up for obedience school

It's been a long and tiring weekend. Zeus was taken out on Saturday because we wanted him to meet the family, and we wanted him to have some fun anyway. We were careful not to let him walk on grass or interact with other dogs though. As his harness didn't fit (too big), we had to get him another one. It is his first time being taken out, and he doesn't seem to know he is on a harness.

Zeus is in a cage :(

A few days ago, daddy decided that the crate training method because Zeus is still not peeing and pooping in the right place. So daddy got Zeus's cage from Zeus's ex-owner today.

Say Hello to Boss!

He just arrived today, after a long week or more of waiting, microchipped and sterilised. The fee for adoption from SPCA (rabbits and small animals) is only $10. A pretty good deal I reckon. I wonder if the microchip is painful though, he has a small patch of scarred fur on his side. I hope they didn't operate on him just to put the microchip inside :(

Poop Surprise

This morning wasn't a pleasant one, for daddy at least. He discovered Zeus with poop all over his pen and had to spend extra time cleaning it up. It made him late for work.

Breakfast and poo

This is Zeus eagerly waiting for his breakfast. Mummy took a very long time to process this video because it was too long. It may be a little choppy. It's broken down into two parts. This is part 1.
